A Healthier Way to Wash Produce

I used to think washing with water was enough to get rid of the residue on my produce.

But a study commissioned by ReuseThisBag.com reveals that grocery stores may be dirtier than we think. The study was conducted by EMLab P&K who tested swabs from various grocery stores from big box stores to upscale markets.

What they found was shocking. The grocery store produce they tested contained 746 times more bacteria than the steering wheel of a car! And grocery store carts contained as much as 361 times the bacteria of a bathroom doorknob!

In addition, the study found nearly 75% of these bacteria contained gram-negative rods, a fungus that can grow anywhere on the human body including under the fingernails, and which is most commonly associated with skin infections.

Can I get a resounding EEEWWWW!?!?!?!

These disturbing statistics made me think twice about how I wash my fruits and vegetables.

I always thought washing with water was enough. But if soapless water isn’t enough to clean my dirty hands, why did I think it would effectively clean my produce?

Since I received a free bottle of Thieves Fruit and Veggie Soak with my monthly Essential Rewards order, I decided to give it a try.

How to Clean Your Produce with Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak:

Step 1
Add 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) for every gallon of water. (I wash everything in a clean kitchen sink.)

Step 2:
Completely cover your produce and let it soak for 1–2 minutes. (Be sure to peel off any stickers before washing so all the skin gets clean.)

Step 3:
Rinse your fruit & veggies with clean water and dry them with a towel.

That's it! Because Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak is highly concentrated it will last your family for a long time. I can wash all my produce for a week with just 2 tablespoons of it.

I was so happy with the results! Not only did my fruit look clean and shiny, but it tasted so much crispier. It also stayed fresher in my refrigerator for a longer time.

Plus, my fruit and veggies looked more appealing to the picky eaters in my household. I'd say that Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak definitely made my shopping trip more cost-effective.

What Makes Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak Different?

Young Living’s unique formula combines three unique essential oil blends:

Thieves Essential Oil

In France during the 15th century, thieves would sneak into graveyards to rob from the dead and dying. Legend says they protected themselves by creating a special aromatic combination composed of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals. Today Thieves essential oil blend is inspired by that legend. It combines Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Lemon oil, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils, and is used in Young Living’s complete line of household cleaning products.

Digize Essential Oil

DiGize is a blend of oils with a spicy, exotic scent. It’s beneficial for diffusing before or after large meals and/or applying topically to your abdomen to support digestion. Digize has also been found to be an effective soil purifier. In studies, Gary Young found that DiGize essential oil blend effectively removed herbicide residues from the soil.

Purification Essential Oil

This blend is made up of six powerful essential oils: Citronella, Lavandin, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Myrtle, and Tea Tree.

Cooking with fruits and vegetables that stay fresher longer is a joy now!
